GRAVEYARD POPULATION: 17 Abruptly, you come to. The sun is hot on your back, but there's the gentle lapping of cool water on your feet and legs as you regain your consciousness. Beneath you is sand - lots and lots of sand, some of it wet, the majority of it dry and burning. You hear the sound a seagull crying from somewhere up above you, and you can smell and almost taste the tang of salt in the air. You've found yourself washed up on what appears to be some kind of tropical island - one of your hands is gripping your clamshell, even if you didn't have it in your hand before you died. It's bright and well-lit, and there's the sound of voices from somewhere a ways away from the beach. Lastly, as you sit up, if you had some kind of supernatural power before coming here, you notice one thing in particular - that power that you were so familiar with before it vanished upon your awakening inside the hotel? It's back. Welcome to paradise. You won't be leaving here any time soon. - - - Welcome to the graveyard! Though your character is now out of the living side of the game, this does not mean they are fully removed from the action. We have several mechanics and events planned that will allow the dead to affect the course of the game just as much, if not more, than those on the living side. We will announce these opportunities as they happen in the #graveyard-announcements channel. But in the meantime, here are a couple of neat things to consider as you settle into the graveyard! 1. As mentioned above, all characters will wake up with their clamshell in hand. While there's no place to use Finansex at this moment, characters will still have access to the My Appointments app to request NPC audiences. Go forth and request private meetings as your heart desires. 2. The graveyard has its very own location page. You can check it out over here to see what kind of shenanigans your characters can get up to while on the island. 3. Additionally, powers are now available. While some may still be nerfed if they are too game breaking, most characters will wake up to find that the majority of their powers have been reactivated. I was a sword, so... I could not say no. However, my former masters respected me as I respected them.

Now... it perhaps is possible, but I choose not to say no because I like our master.

Isn't that worse? If you don't like someone and have to follow them, you won't care if you finally have enough some day.

We were not human, so we did not mind. There was no right or wrong, only our duty. It is different now that we have these bodies. We're learning... and at times, it is very tough.

Not always did my masters do what humans would consider good, or right. Neither did some of the masters of others of us.

Still, we were their swords, and there is pride in that.

[ he's just quiet for another, longer moment, before he sits himself back up and squints over at the horizon. ]

Have you had a chance to look around this place yet? [ he's not wearing heelies but he sure can escape those feelies. ]

[Don't run, Shiraishi. You cannot escape.

He follows the other man's line of sight out toward the horizon before looking back. Without saying anything, he fluidly rises again to his feet and then offers a hand out to help Shiraishi up.]

[ goodbye. you can't catch his emotions.

he doesn't immediately take his hand, but after a moment he reaches out and takes the hand. thanks for the boost, puppysword. ]

[When Hizamaru pulls Shiraishi up, the man might wonder if he's possessed again by a demon. The strength behind it isn't chaotic, but he seems to be pretty damn strong. It's easy to gets Shiraishi from the sand and to the feet in one swift motion.]

It is smaller than the ship, but things are similar.

[ Oof. Okay, yes he's up. The strength is a bit surprising, but it doesn't... fully surprise him that the swords are strong even when they're not aiming to utilise it. ]

Probably not worth the trade off though.

[leggymaru]

[Unlike the one trying to unlock Shiraishi's route, he does let go of Shiraishi's hand. It's fine.]

Quit moping and keep hoping.

[It sounds like................he has probably heard this said rather than it being something he knows how to use accurate.]

[ he snorts slighly, sticking his hands in his pockets. ]

Did you hear that from your non-beaked dance partner?

[ you must unlock one route before unlocking shiraishi's in his actual game. it's hard mode. ]

[He blinks, and then his brows furrow. Oh right. Junpei told him about that whole fiasco, thanks a lot, Catman Scoop.

He nods.]

Prompto-san, yes.

[ catman scoop, here to deliver unnerving beats and beaked monster protection groups, all in one.

After a moment, he leans forwards and taps Hizamaru on the nose. Boop. ]

If it makes him feel better to think that way, then he is welcome to it.

[The boop makes him blink.]

If it makes you feel better that people think that way, you are welcome to it.

I don’t particular care either way. I just don’t think it applies to me, so I won’t follow it.

[ it sounds pretty lighthearted but... if an equivalent of “buck up” was going to work it would have done so many, many years ago. ]

It's wise words for when you are stuck. I know you care in your own way, Shiraishi-san. I remember... you trying to help me.

[He turns though to begin trudging back up the beach, figuring Shiraishi will follow.]

Wiser words would be to not get stuck in the first place.

[ he does follow, at his own pace. ]

Mm. Hallucinations are concerning and you seemed completely clueless about the situation. Although I suppose the demon was fine, but you were feeling the impact of the drug.

[Shiraishi PLS.]

It was disorienting and strange. I... did not care for it. [Not like pot brownies at all.] Or the possession...

I was afraid... of being a corrupt sword, though I suppose I was.

[felinguistic]

[ wHAT. ]

You don't seem corrupted now. Still overly polite and sincere, as usual.

Mm. Elder brother... pulled the corruption out of me and, supposedly, destroyed it.

So I'm grateful. My spirit was freed, and I'm not longer suffering.

[It's like he doesn't even recognize the "overly" part of Shiraishi's sentence.]

The better phrasing might be "pulled you out of the corruption". It's almost like layers -- you were in there, and aware, but unable to do anything. The demon was controlling you in your body, but you yourself were still in there.

[leggymaru]

[He frowns, glances back at Shiraishi to make an attempt of something--he isn't sure, wry or weak--and then he looks away again. He wouldn't have wanted anyone else to exorcise him and, yet, he hated burdening Higekiri that way.

He motions to the buildings ahead of them.]

Everything is close together.

[ hey. he was being complementary. ]

Would you rather have remained that way, and at risk of killing him next?

[ it's blunt, but thats the point to it. It's not a bad thing, even if it was painful for him and his brother. ]

... Easily to navigate than the ship.

[leggymaru]

Yes.

[At first, he doesn't clarify, but then, to answer Shiraishi's earlier question he detoured around:]

No. I wouldn't have wanted that ever. I was so afraid... that would happen. I was afraid they wouldn't find it, and that later, I would hurt elder brother.

So there you go. Things happened as they happened, and I died not your brother. Best solution to a poor situation.

[ he just shrugs. higekiri lives, hizamaru is free, and shiraishi is just here but that's fair. ]

[leggymaru]

[Before Shiraishi even finishes, he's shaking his head. He stops so he can face Shiraishi rather than be turned away. His expression grows serious, firm.]

Please don't say that, Shiraishi-san. I am still pained it was your death. Even if that place is dangerous, I would rather you be alive. No matter where you are, I would want you to be alive.
