DOXXERS On Tuesday afternoon, all four of their clamshells will ping! from wherever they have it. Should they pick it up to see what all the fuss is about, Higekiri will realize that their RULEBOOK app has updated to version 2.0. So that makes Tonbokiri the only one without a role now?

Pick whoever you want. From what I could tell, Taako usually checked people out of curiosity when we didn't have a demon from the previous week to catch.

Taako checked Nikkari last week. He seems to be a popular choice for checks.

I don't suppose anyone has any idea who might be possessed this week. I was thinking of checking maybe Tonbokiri or—well, Junpei, to be safe. Nothing personal.

[crashout]

[Yeah he heard the conversation with Chuuya because the office isn't that crowded, so...he shrugs.]

I get it. I'd check me, too, if I were you. [Is he...worried about being possessed and not knowing it? Sure, a little. But at the same time:]

Tonbokiri, Beck or Wei Wuxian would be my guesses. Tonbokiri because he's been under a lot of duress lately which is a hotbed for demons who get off on that sort of thing, Wei Wuxian because of what he can do, and the fact that he had a whole zombie-hand sticking out of his chest and we don't know what lingering effects could be left, and Beck because...she'd be the perfect host if a demon wanted someone well liked and unassuming. Look at what happened with Hizamaru.

[So many people trusted him because he seemed nice and easygoing.] But those are just my thoughts. Higekiri falls under the same reasoning because of everything that happened last week, too.

[preceptive]

[crashout]

I trust your judgment, man. [...] Here's a wild question. Does it have to be one of us? Or could we check the hosts? We probably shouldn't waste the chance but it's something I might try with my own pick. We've got nothing to lose with mine, but we don't know what their roles in this game really are.

[preceptive]

That's true. Thinking of any particular host?

Carlos or Polly. [Hm.] When we broke into the morgue, we found those notes on the bodies of who we can assume were the previous hosts. Thanks to recordings and messages we've heard, we can infer that April was one of the hosts from the other side. [He's pulling a stack of papers from his pocket.] Her notes said: "This is the body that was used as a catalyst to welcome the creatures into this realm... However, the subject does not present any abilities related to the concept of space and time. She is not a god, a time traveler, or a dimensional shifter. Perhaps she carries it in her blood as an untapped ability? It's a shame the subject is in no state to answer my questions."

[Flipping through papers.] Hazel's notes said: "This is all your fault, you fucker. Why couldn't you be horny for something normal like feet." Only all caps and more exclamation points.

Here's the thing. April was 28. Hazel was 22. Carlos and Polly are the same ages. We know that Carlos was the last one to die and that he and Polly both got tanked when she summoned the demon using his body...but the thing is, Carlos does have abilities "related to the concept of space and time" or whatever. We both do. He's a SHIFTer just like I am, and my question is why the hell was someone looking for something like that?

...so if I had to pick, it'd be one of those two because that's a little too coincidental for me.

[preceptive]

That's... a strange coincidence, yeah.

[crashout]

...and you remember what Wei Wuxian's note brought back, don't you? [That's still definitely on his mind, too.]

If you check on our side, I can at least check one of those two for mine and see what happens. Given...what's happened, it's probably going to be Carlos unless you guys think otherwise.

[preceptive]

I was thinking of that.

[he shakes his head.]

Carlos is as good of a choice as any.
