Dick can head for the security office, but what route is he taking?
Kagachi, on peeling off to head to the medical cell, seems to be safe taking the center hallway route. But once he gets there... the medical cell has a keycard lock, too. Its light glows orange.
The shuffling sound is growing a little quieter as the creature hasn't run across anything, but from their position they can still hear some movement rounding the top left corner of the map, entering the northern hallway.]
[ Dick nods before they leave, jaw set. he goes through the center hallway and turns in the middle, (using the hallway where there is no blood on the map) pocketing the flashlight now that there's (sort of) light around. He's keeping an ear out for any sudden noises and an eye out for anything suspicious, but otherwise, he's going straight for that security office!! man i hope there's a doorway from that side ]
[Kagachi is correct in assuming Tamamo ain't armed, so she'll take the scalpel and knife with a grin, and nod to him. She'll be careful.
-- Sudden thought though, but she really fuckin hopes they don't have to open these cell doors in order.
Anyway as promised, she will head over to cell 2 while traveling down the middle hallway first, just trying to see if the cell door will open (assuming there even is a cell door).
But if it looks like she's going to be locked out, she will immediately yeet herself over to cell 3 because it's across the hall. She's just looking for an easy-access room.]
[Dick will find the doorway to the security office is all the way in the leftmost hallway... but he can get there without incident. He just can't get in, because it requires a 6-digit keycode.
Tamamo can in fact open the door to cell 2! There is a chair off in one corner, and a messy, unmade cot. Large smears of old blood cover the floor.
In cell 6, Kagachi will find a similar layout, but there is no chair and no blood. The bed in here is neatly made.]
[ well. FUCK. time for dick to backtrack the way he came and head over to cell 1! he goes by as fast as he can be while still making no sound. which is unfortunately for me pretty fast because again. he's a ninja. he is using the leftmost hallway because i knew that hallway existed this entire time

She is still unnerved by the atmosphere and the fact there's a thing that wants to kill them, so she will zoom over to the cot first. It's unmade? She's going to unmake it even more and try to see if there's anything in the cot that catches her interest, especially if there are covers for her to lift.
Regardless of what she finds (UNLESS SHE GETS MAIMED AGAIN IN WHICH CASE NEVERMIND THIS NEXT PART--) she will also go inspect the chair.]

[It's fortunate that you mentioned Dick moves silently, because the closer he gets to cell 1, the more he'll start to hear that shuffling, dragging sound again. He's growing closer... but it's not visible at the end of the hallway. It's already turned the corner to head elsewhere. Through the cell door, he can see that same cell layout: a bed on one side, a chair in a corner. There's a puddle of blood on the floor.
Tamamo will not find anything in the cot or under the covers, but where is she looking as she goes to inspect the chair-- just zooming in on it?
Oh, and she'll hear a faint shuffling once more.
Going through the bed does work for Kagachi, meanwhile. Another journal page falls out from between the folds:]

Definitely just almost died? Holy shit. Holy shit I almost died. ... she'd try to move it but she doesn't trust herself not to make noise, so that'll have to do.]

The creature's just turned into that central hallway on the north end. The lights in this hall flicker like they might go out as something large and indistinct begins to head his way-- he can see in the dim, unstable light that it has an abundance of limbs, but he can't tell anything else.]
he takes a silent step back, but—he waits. tamamo is most likely in either cell 2 or cell 3, he figures. if the monster enters the room she's in, she's trapped.
and thus, he watches to see if it looks like the monster will move into either of those cells. if so, he'll make a move.
otherwise, if it continues to pass by, he soundlessly backs up, thinking over his options.]
[The chair in Dick's cell is clear, and so is the ceiling! But in combing over the floor and that dried blood he veered away from... he'll find a loose floor tile.
What Tamamo grabs is another journal page! This one says:]
“Found him… what was left of him. It’s moved on, now. We have to hurry. Security office is password locked, though… but I found a hint? It’s six digits… some sort of sequence, but I haven’t gotten it yet.
-WHERE YOU STAND NOW -YOUR ROAD LEFT TO WALK -THE MOMENT OF TRUTH
What’s that supposed to mean?”
[Kagachi will find, in his observation, that the monster appears to be passing by those two cells. Within her cell, Tamamo will hear a low, snarling growl and see an indistinct shadow cast against the wall as it goes by.
And then it stops in the middle of the hallway, immediately outside the cell, emitting another strange growl that is not identifiable as any kind of creature either of them has heard... but it's not entering. Tamamo cannot see its shape, but she can see the shadow holds still.]
[ dick can vaguely hear the far-off growl, and he takes in a low breath. he can't rush off. he has to trust them to handle it. they're not civilians he's protecting, they can defend themselves. it's like working with the team.
so with that thought, he rushes over to the loose floor tile, taking it out to see what's hidden under there. and also picks it up if it's not, like, scorpions or something ]
[it feels like an eternity. the monster hasn't moved far enough that kagachi is willing to step away just yet, but there's no reason to make a premature move either.
so, he continues to wait. if finally, it moves past the cells, he'll duck into cell 5, but otherwise he's prepared in case tamamo is in danger.]
[What Dick finds under the tile is... another page:]
“A still-beating heart honestly sounds a little bit ominous? But we’ve seen grosser in our time here, maybe… there’s no way it has to come from that thing, though. Medical cell sounds promising? We’re going to split up and try to find a way in— the place is keycard-locked.”
[Tamamo and Kagachi's waiting game, meanwhile, pays off. The creature snorts and continues down the hall, passing Kagachi by as well since neither of them have made a sound. Good choice, guys.
Kagachi will be able to duck into cell 5 once it turns the corner again, and he will see it turn left, into the hallway that is on the map's far right (containing the medical cell and cell 6 doors.)
He is now in another cell with a neatly made bed, though the chair here is just out in the middle of the floor.]
[ good news: the heart they need might be here. bad news: so's that thing, and they're playing hide and seek with it. he hasn't heard any screams so he can assume tamamo and kagachi are alright, and so after another sweep of the cell to make sure nothing else stands out, he ducks out, going back through the middle hallway up to the center to get to cell 4, keeping watch in case the monster is hanging around.

Who says only cats have nine lives? She grins like a feral mess when the creature disappears, and after waiting a couple of beats, she will then take her piece of paper and dart into cell 3, if it's open.]

Cell 3 had its door hanging open already, so Tamamo is able to make her way in! The bed is neatly made, and there is no chair or blood in here.
