CATFISH On Monday afternoon, Izuminokami's clamshell will ping! from wherever he has it. Should he pick it up to see what all the fuss is about, he will realize that his RULEBOOK app has updated to version 2.0. Opening the app will reveal that there has been an addendum to the rules... but one that seems meant exclusively for him. No other survivor will be able to see these additions. They read as such: 1. Each week, you will be given A TASK by your guides. 2. The specifics of this task will VARY FROM WEEK TO WEEK, and there's no guarantee that any two tasks will be the same. 3. You MUST COMPLETE THIS TASK BEFORE THE DAY OF THE TRIAL, regardless of what it entails. 4. You may PRIVATELY CONFIRM YOUR ROLE if asked, but you may not OFFER THE INFORMATION FREELY to others. A notification will arrive the moment he has finished reading through the update. Its contents are no less confusing. [This week, Izuminokami will find himself suddenly entering a lavish office. One wall is entirely windowed, and to one end of the room is a large desk flanked by bookshelves. His shoes click on marble tile before he steps onto a rug covering much of the central area; the window is high enough that it only looks out onto the sky, unless he goes closer to peer out.]

TALK TO CHUUYA

[Chuuya's seated in one of three plush chairs in the office's central space, a glass of wine in hand as he gestures for the sword to join them.]

Hey, you made it. Sorry about the weird message, but looks like you've got a job to do here, too.

[he'll offer out a glass there. Let's drink, swordboy.]

TALK TO NATHAN

[Nathan's in another chair, but like, sitting in it like an asshole with his legs over the side. He laughs like a lunatic.]

[After talking to Chuuya and Nathan, Izuminokami will receive the following notification on his clamshell:]

Successfully break into a locked room with the others you'll meet there.

[This should be completed no later than 11:59 PM EST on Friday. which it will because we're gonna run this before then so you should be good.

You're working with us, basically. If we have something we need done, you'll be our go-between to make it happen-- guess part of hosting is not being allowed to do everything ourselves.

[he sounds so annoyed about it...]

[Shaking his damn head. He squints.]

[ he doesn't know what that means but OH BOY time for yet another introduction! he straightens proudly. ]

Izuminokami Kanesada. You may know me as the sword used by Hijikata Toshizou, the vice-captain of the Shinsengumi. Recently, I'm a popular sword, made by the twelfth generation Kanesada.

We do, actually. There are a couple of locations on the new floor that we weren't able to open, but you guys might have better luck with that if you go check them out.

[A thoughtful hum, there, as he takes a long sip.]

If we send you a lead on which room, think you can handle that? We'll do what we can to send you some assistance... no telling how things will work in this fucking place, but I'll try to arrange for a couple others to show up.

[The look on his face is the look of a man who has no idea what he just heard. And yet, at the same time, weirder things have happened. He's just...he's just going to accept whatever that was at face value.]

Well, then! I'll just have to think of something!

[He calls his best friend an absurdity of inappropriate names so, this is not going to be great, but, you know. The choices we all make. Nathan grins.]

So, how's your sex life?

[namelessfighter]

A raid, then. I've done plenty of those before.

[ he's shinsengumi sword to the core ]

Point me in the right direction, and we'll find a way.

You can consider it a raid, sure. Just try not to stab anything you shouldn't be, and I think you'll be fine.

[kanesan sounds experienced, he should be fine? chuuya raises his glass to him with a little grin.]

We'll make sure you get to where you need to be. Any questions, while you're here?

I'll leave the stabbing for any enemies we come across. I'm not that eager to kill someone who doesn't deserve it.

[ it'll be fine, probably. so, he also raises his glass, as if to toast before taking a quick sip. ]

What happens, if I can't finish a task?

This time? Nothing. You just won't get anything out of it, and the room we were going to send you to might not be opened up.

But I don't think you're going to have any trouble getting shit done.
