GRAVEYARD: THE BOOKLETS...
[As the residents of the island open up the booklets, they will see... that someone has printed out the contents of a website? Stranger still, it looks like they went through the trouble of professionally binding it.]

[... Hm.
There are passages that may sound familiar to some as they flip through the pages.]

PROLOGUE
I don't know who first said those words to me, but they've stuck with me ever since. Life isn't fair. Life is not meant to make you happy. Life is a cannibalistic machine, and it will happily rip away everything that makes you you until there's nothing left to mourn. I would know. I would know better than most... But if you're hearing this, then I suppose you're not interested in learning what a pathetic creature I've become since this all started. Instead, you must be asking yourselves: "What is happening? What is this place? What do they want with us?"
And... I could answer all of those questions, sure. But let's take it one step at a time. You haven't bled and worked yourself to the bone like those who came before you... So it's only right that I make you work for those answers. I will tell you a story, and if you're smart, you will be able to put two and two together before our time has ended. If you're better at this than we were, then maybe you'll catch the mistakes we made before they even happen. Hah!
If we're starting from the top... Then I suppose I should tell you a little about this place. About the hotel, the ship, and the demons.
There were 33 of us here. We all came from different worlds, and most of us had nothing in common. But we made it work. First week here, and we were all willing to work with each other to find a way out of this gilded cage. That changed when that fucking bitch brought them to us.
I'm not sorry for what happened. I'm the only one left now. It's just as it should be. Don't feel sorry for me. And don't come looking for me. This message was written a long, long time ago. Chances are, if you're reading this, I'm no longer here.
But they are.
Let's talk again later.
CHAPTER ONE
What a waste of my time.
Hao pulled me away.
We sat in the Cafeteria before they addressed us.
"Four of your own have been struck down," it said. "Tomorrow you will all gather in the Ballroom. Find the source of the distortion and repay the blood that has been spilt."
I did not sleep that night.
I was too furious at the turn of events.
CHAPTER TWO
Hao, of course, was distraught. That was his brother. Losing April was difficult enough. I had to pretend I understood how he felt... which is why I couldn't blame him for pushing everyone away when we attempted to comfort him. I could not even blame him for regarding each and everyone one of us with suspicion. After all, only a moron would be naive enough to think that Yoh's killer isn't among us.
I was in the Lobby when they decided to grace us with their presence.
"One of your own has been struck down," it said. "Tomorrow you will all gather in the Ballroom. Find the source of the disturbance and repay the blood that has been spilt."
I did not see Hao again for the rest of that night.
CHAPTER THREE
We confronted Caesar in the Gym's locker room. Cornered him against the showers.
"You have a role, right? You're one of the 13."
[...]
Caesar smiled as he left the Gym. Hao watched him until he was completely out of sight, before turning to me with the most vitriolic look I had ever seen on his face. His knuckles had turned white from the intensity with which he held onto his lance.
"You're insane, you know that? What would you had done if he was a demon and not a Booty Caller?"
I waved him off, scrolling through the application until I found Caesar's profile. "You worry too much," I told him. "It turned out fine-- and we got some valuable info from him. Now we know that the demons and the roles. They're both like the hydra. Cut the head off, and another will take its place."
"So you believe him, then?"
"Kind of. I plan to ask April to confirm."
"... Right. Of course. You can still talk to April."
I pretended not to see the hurt in his eyes.
[...]
"I am so sorry," I told her. "I let Dazai find one the items they need to get out of here."
Using my friend's face, the demon in front of me smiled.
"It's okay," it says. "Come lay with me."
CHAPTER FOUR
"This is pointless," he said to me. "They're hunting us down, like we're cattle. There were 33 of us four weeks ago. Now there's only 12! And my brother, he was... He has a son he needed to get back to, Dio."
I asked him to calm down. Pleaded with him to hold onto his hope. We would speak to Caesar later, so he could share with us what the dead had whispered to him.
But as our conversation carried on, I could not let go of my guilt. I could not tell him what I had done, and who I had protected.
[...]
"So they finally got the pool, huh?"
I glanced up from Chel's body, my face smoothing out into a blank mask to disguise my irritation. Megara stood a couple of feet away from me, arms crossed before her chest as she looked down at the disemboweled corpse in front of us. "So it seems," I said, flatly. "It was bound to happen sooner or later."
Megara humed thoughtfully, her eyes scanning the horizon before landing on Neena and Jason. From this distance, Neena looked hilariously tiny -- especially in comparison to Jason.
"So it seems," Megara echoed in agreement, before allowing her arms to drop to her sides. She ripped her gaze away from our guides in order to meet my eyes. "Let's meet up privately after the announcement. We don't know if Chel was targeted for her role as a Doxxer, and I want to discuss that possibility."
I was doing my laundry when they finally addressed us.
CHAPTER FIVE
I glanced up from where I was washing my hands. Hao was frowning at me, arms crossed in front of his chest in a defensive position. The door to our shared room had been locked behind him, and he stood in the way of the only exit.
I forced myself to smile.
"Of course not. Why would I know anything about that?"
CHAPTER SIX
"Trying to shove this lance up your fucking asshole! What does it look like I'm doing?"
"It looks like you've lost your goddamn mind. Calm down, Hao, and we can talk about this."
"Calm down...? Are you seriously asking me to calm down? You must think I'm a moron. I bet... I bet you always think you're the smartest guy in the room, don't you?"
... Hao, I really don't know what you're talking about."
"Hah-- Of course you don't. You think everyone on this fucking ship loves you, right? You don't think anyone talks about you behind your back. I'm such an idiot for thinking we were friends, when it's your fault that my brother is dead."
"That's-- What?"
"I've been talking to Megara. You know what she told me? That she and the other two Cockblockers planned to protect my brother, and you said no. And you know what else she dropped along the way? That you specifically told them to keep any information they found away from me."
"Hao, it's not what it sounds like. I swear."
"Don't waste your breath. It's midnight and we're both awake. So either you're possessed, and here to kill me... Or they've given me their blessing to put you in your place."
"... So we're really going to fight over this, huh?"
"Yes. But look at the bright side, Dio... You won't have to send pictures of your ugly dick to talk to April anymore."
CHAPTER SEVEN
Neena blinked up at me, face ashen as she took the bloodied lance from my hand. It disappeared into the depths of her coat, and she dropped her shaking hands to her side after getting rid of it. "I... Um... Yes," she said. "It's just... the blood... Jason is used to it because he was a detective before all of this, but I was only an actress, you know? It's still difficult to accept this is happening."
"It must be rough," I told her, lacing as much sympathy as I could manage into my tone.
"Mm, it is what it is. It's my job to help you all, so I won't complain... But thank you, Dio."
"It's nothing. I'll see you tomorrow at trial."
"... Yes," she said, frowning. "But... Dio, about Hao--"
"Hm? What about him?"
"He..." she began, before stopping herself. After a beat, she shook her head. "It's nothing. I'll see you at the trial."
CHAPTER EIGHT
I look up, meeting Caesar's eyes. "Sorry— Can you repeat that?"
He gives me a smile that's full of teeth. He's cleaning his hands with a towel, washing the blood he got on his hands from handling the knife he turned in to Jason. "You're all alone now. Does it bother you?"
"No," I huff. "What bothers me is that we executed Megara she wasn't responsible for what happened to Hao."
That's a lie, of course. I knew exactly what I was doing when I planted the evidence pointing to her.
Bitch should have known better than to double-cross me.
REVIEWS
There was no previous group. Those hints, clues, and pieces of lore you had all desperately clung to in an attempt to avoid a terrible fate? They were all fictional. Excerpts from a story someone had written a long, long time ago.
The final pages are filled with comments left on the website.]
