Then she pulls her brand new lighter out of her pocket.]

[JUST SAYING, as he glances down the hall. Despite himself, he pulls his knife, just in case. Who know what this ship will object to? And hey, isn't setting off an explosion on a ship a bad idea? But oh, too late, she's lit the paper fuse, and--]
[Setting off an explosion in a ship is definitely a bad idea. But, hey! Let's look at the bright side: this isn't a normal ship.
The force of the explosion rattles through the basement level, effectively obliterating the mahogany door. It's a good thing Katy and Haymitch sought cover, because there are splinters everywhere. But, well. They are both cowards who wear shoes — so the splinters won't be that big of an issue once they step out of the boutique. The remains of the door barely hang onto the frame by the hinges, allowing them both to catch a glimpse of what's inside the previously locked room... That is to say:
Complete and utter darkness.
Even though the door is gone, the light from the hallway refuses to filter into the newly opened room. If they want to find out what they've just unlocked, they'll have to step inside.]
[Well, they got what they asked for . . . god. He grimaces as he straightens up and steps towards the door. The lack of light is worrying, though, and he grips his knife tighter.]
Stay behind me. Back to the wall when you get in there.
[It's very much an order, muttered sharply as he goes through the doorway and in.]
[The explosion is quite satisfying. RIP gas can, you have served your purpose.
She follows, and this time she actually does what she's told. At least he's not trying to make her stay behind entirely. Plus, hm, bringing a knife along would've been a great idea... Whoops.]

[She's trying to lighten the mood. Give her credit for that sick door-unlocking she just did, buddy.]
The moment they both step into the room, something happens. Almost as if someone were hitting rewind on a video, the bits and pieces that made up the door will regenerate and reassemble themselves as if there had never been an explosion. It all happens too quickly for them to properly react, but before they know — they will find themselves trapped behind the mahogany door.
The room is still pitch black. In the distance, they can faintly hear the sound of someone's voice.
Anyway, he absolutely for sure is keeping Katy behind him, his knife out and his body tensed to react. The only time he moves is to turn and murmur something, as quiet as he can with her still hearing.]

[Is this a trap? Maybe! Maybe not. But he's sure gonna treat it like it is.
He takes his bracelet and, with only a moment's hesitation, tosses it a few feet away. It lands with a noise, and he waits. Just in case whomever it is wants to attack the second they hear a noise.]
[i lost sleep last night over how we missed an opportunity to make a mahogany joke when the door blew so we deserve whatever's coming honestly.
But, oh, this sucks. Katy should've brought a knife... or something. She didn't think you needed to bring weapons to a break-in? She's new here.
As much as she doesn't like feeling so useless just hiding behind him, it seems like the thing to do for the moment. She can't see for shit, so she gropes blindly until she catches his shirt oh god that had better be his shirt, staying quiet, trying to listen to the voice.]
[Cool! Haymitch tosses his bracelet, and both of them will hear it bounce off the floor a couple of times before sliding into the distance. There's a bit of a hollow, metallic clang when it apparently comes in contact with something.
The voice continues to chatter away in the distance, faint and unintelligible. Nothing else happens.]
[She whispers it, not like that's about to matter. If Haymitch isn't gonna do the stupid, Katy's contractually obligated. She follows his instruction, but does indeed whip out that lighter of hers, sparking up a flame to see what they're dealing with here.
This is creepy, but people only die on Thursdays, so. It's probably fine.]
[The voice continues even after Haymitch yells, just as faint and unintelligible as always.
Katy seems to have the right idea, though. Though the lighter doesn't provide a whole lot of illumination, it's enough for her to see the floor in this room is vastly different from the rest of the ship. In fact, it looks like of like... Rubber? Huh.]
[He snaps it out at a normal volume, glaring over at her. The light helps, but also, survival one-oh-one. But ugh, fine-- knife at the ready, he ventures forward, nudging the floor with one foot. Is there anything they can see within the room proper?]
Looks like rubber or something.
[That's not a worrying material for a room to be made out of.]
[Katy's lighter helps, but not that much. As Haymitch ventures forward, his knee is going to bump against something... metallic? Yeah. Be careful you don't trip over there, buddy.
Now that Katy is crouching down, she will notice that the rubber floor seems to be made up of interlocking rubber tiles. It's not bouncy though, no. More like very, very hard to slip and slide on.]
[And now she can see things, so suck on that. Speaking of! She's bored of waiting for poopy pants over there to scope out the potential dangers, so she's heading off in search of his bracelet.
Carefully, though, using her lighter to make sure she doesn't run into anything on the way. She'll keep pokin' around until she finds his bracelet or idk regrets.]
