In the few interactions they had, there was a degree of- professionalism and a sort of understanding that can only be built on presenting the premise that "anyone could try to kill you and any moment" and getting an "oh, mood" kind of response. Even though they never tried delving into each other's histories, there's a lot you can understand just from that.

Haymitch, uh, does end up in the pile of people he apologizes to because like... sorry... you fucked a demon that had stolen by body... the demon was also immune to the touch-horny so it was extra kind of sketchy in terms of- I wanna say "taking advantage of" Haymitch but basically the idea of setting up a premise for fucking insincerely.

... then by endgame, like, I don't think he'd be down for fucking sincerely which is a shame because visibly-older guys hot
