here is higekiri!! he's exploring the 'perimeter' as he sometimes does, and is probably giving hizamaru some gray hairs. at some point he met up with junpei??? look he just wants to finish searching before they go beat each other up. he's positioned in front of Our Locked Door, and is going to idly press his ear against the mahogany of it
presumably he hears footsteps approaching, and then when he sees beck, he gives her a friendly wave!!! they've never met but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be friendly
but now he's going to idly knock on the mahogany of the door, because he has been doing this on all doors, and announce himself]
Hello! Requesting an audience, please allow us entry.
[Here she comes, to the area she planned to meet up with Junpei. She might be a little bit surprised to see Higekiri here as well, but she returns his wave all the same, offering a small smile.
It fades slightly as she watches him knock on the door and politely ask to come in, but she tries to keep from sounding judgmental when she says:]
[So it was like this. He'd initially talked to Beck about doing this, left to pick up a knife that he plans to put back later, found Higekiri wandering, put the knife back, picked the sword and now...they're wandering. By the time Beck joins them, Junpei looks a little like his soul is about to fly out of his nose but he's still following and letting him do this.]
Well it hasn't been so far, but we're running out of doors. [It's said in a way that says he's accepted his fate.] Beck, this is Higekiri. Higekiri, Beck. [There's an upturn of his lip.] He's very polite.
[But yeah, he's not anticipating this door either since it's failed so far.]
Not even five seconds after Higekiri has finished asking the hotel(?????) to politely let them in, all three of them will hear the telltale sound of something unlocking itself. A second later, and the door will gently swing open by itself, revealing the room inside... Or, uh, well. What little can be seen of the room inside.
Everything past the door is pitch black, the only identifiable source of light within the room being an itty bitty red dot in the corner — as well as a small pulsating green circle on what appears to be the other side of the room.
[higekiri is very polite - and that's why he'll cross an arm over his chest and then bend at the waist when being introduced to beck, because that's just what swords do.
he straightens almost immediately when he hears the sound of something unlocking though, and that hand falls to the sword at his waist just in case -
but it seems like the door is just opening. he brightens up]
Mm! You have my gratitude.
[and then he'll cross that arm over his chest once more, bow toward the entrance, and then turn toward junpei and becks with a smile]
If I may enter first? Please stay behind me just in case.
[then the hand will rest at the hilt of his sword again as he steps in, completely unsure of what to do with the dots]
Entering! Ah... it's dark in here. Ahaha, could I ask for more light? Or am I pushing it?
[She's about to say it's nice to meet you, but then the door opens, and she quickly looks between Higekiri and Junpei with a bewildered expression. That sure happened!!]
Well... Okay.
[Once Higekiri goes into the room, she's quick to follow, squinting in the dark. She's definitely putting a hand on the wall near the door and feeling around to see if she can reach any kind of light switch.]
Uh. Thanks. [This is to the hotel because sure. There's a shrug that more or less says "what do you know?" and he'll nod. Higekiri can go first, and he's also entering to let Beck go last. He's not saying it, but he's trying to keep her out of the line of fire for whatever, too.
Except it's pitch black and they're stuck here. Higekiri asks for light and Beck looks for a switch while Junpei's eyes adjust.]
...is that...a light? [He's going to do the stupid thing and slowly move closer, light on the balls of his feet if he has to bail or hit the dirt. He's going for the green light first if that makes a difference, I can't tell if they're in the same spot or not.]
[As they all finish stepping into the room, the door will suddenly slam shut behind them. This is quickly followed by the sound of the lock clicking shut again. There is no answer to Higekiri's request.
If Junpei continues to walk towards the green light, he'll find that it's located somewhat towards the center of the room, close enough to the left wall but not quite mounted on it. If he wants to see what it is, he'll need 1) better lightning and 2) less distance between himself and the light... But he'll definitely want to be careful! If he's moving too quickly, his foot will get snagged on something long and thin while he moves.
As for Beck, if she keeps feeling around the wall near the door — she will eventually come across some kind of panel. It has two switches on it; one on the right, and another on the left. What will she do?]
[he should maybe sound a little bit more concerned - but at least he doesn't sound super chipper?
but if Junpei is going to wander over closer to the green light, then higekiri will go and see if he can get closer to the red one?? presuming there are more long and thin things on that side of the room, he'll move carefully]
What a strange room. Will we have to find the way to leave now?
You can try it. [He's ignoring both of them, keeping his steps slow and hopefully?? Ignoring whatever the fuck is on the floor. He backs off just enough once he notices he's not seeing anything and pulls out his clamshell, opening it and turning the display toward the light. Does this help? Can he see now? He'll get as close as possible and he's still bracing himself to run.]
Seek a way out. [It's mumbled, annoyed and frustrated. What's up, room?]
[While the light from the clamshell's screen helps a little bit with visibility, they won't have to worry about that for too long. As soon as Beck flips both switches, the LED ceiling lights above them will come to life. First one half of the room, and then the other — until the whole room is illuminated. If Beck glances at the panel she was touching, she'll realize she found the lightswitch. Good job!
Now that they're no longer stumbling around in the darkness, Higekiri will realize that the small red light comes from a video camera attached to a tripod. It's aimed towards a comfortable looking queen sized bed, and surrounded by all sorts of equipment necessary for filming a high quality video. This includes ring lights, diffusers, microphones — as well as toys that can be used to have a good time, if you know what we mean. There's a desk a couple of steps away from it, with a computer set up on it. The video camera seems to be connected to it.
If Higekiri looks to his left, he will also see locker a couple of paces away. Someone will have to open it to see what's inside, though.
As for Junpei, he will realize that the green light comes from a large button on some sort of switchboard. Specifically, one that has ALL written on it. There are a few slots for cassette tapes, conceivably to play something pre-recorded, as well as a built-in microphone. All of it seems to be of professional quality, and perfect for recording all kinds of things. And the thing Junpei successfully avoided tripping over? A thin, black wire, taped to the floor. There seem to be a couple of them running throughout the room, connecting one piece of equipment to the other.
[HE'S TOO HONEST. but he does peer around the camera curiously, checking if there's any sharp edges? it doesn't look like a weapon? so that's pretty good. then he'll look over to the lockers and then start walking toward those, stepping around the wires carefully]
Is this someone's bedroom...? Where have they gone?
[When they're not locked in this ominous recording studio filled with Stress. Either way, she's heading towards that switchboard, but also looking around to see if there are any cassettes that might fit into those slots.]
Oh what the fuck. [Alright! He'll say it! He looks outright pissed and his eyes flit from the bed to the camera to the computer and to his companions. Oh no. Fuck no. Fuck this, fuck you, and fuck off.
Nevertheless, his jaw clenches a little and he's taking another sweep of the room now that they're inside. If Higekiri's taking the lockers and Beck's taking the switchboard, he'll move toward the desk. He crouches first to see if there are any drawers to open, anything under the desk (hidden or taped or otherwise, like a key or notes or what-have-you), looks at the desktop itself and then moves to look at the computer. Is there a mouse? Can he nudge it, can he turn on the computer? Hewwo?] Careful with the wires. See if you can find where else they lead.
[Now that he's closer, Higekiri will see that the locker is pretty standard... if you're from the 21st century. Nothing special about it. There isn't any sort of lock on it, so he could theoretically simply pop it open if he tries.
The switchboard is a little bit more complicated. It's filled with switches, levers and buttons. They seem to be geared towards controlling different aspects of an audio, as well as recording and broadcasting. And while there aren't any cassettes immediately around the switchboard, Beck will notice that the ALL button isn't the only one of its kind. While it's the only one that's lit up, there are other buttons that are identical in shape and size — with the only difference being what's written on them. In order: ALL, NONE, HOTEL, POOL, BASEMENT 1, BASEMENT 2, BASEMENT 3, BASEMENT 4, BASEMENT 5. There's nothing stopping her from pressing any one of them.
The computer is, unfortunately, unresponsive. Nudging the mouse does nothing. There's a single drawer on the desk, but all Junpei will find is a stack of sticky notes, a pencil, and a pair of headphones. The sticky note at the top of the stack has a single word written on it:
[haha nice, guess someone else gets to touch the camera
but anyway Higekiri will at least look at the lockers and tilt his head? do they look like they're labeled at all? recently used? is there any dust in this room in the first place or is it all clean?
[While she looks over the switches and levers, it's the named buttons that really draw her interest. Though she frowns, she reads over each of them before pressing the button that says basement 1, only hesitating for a few moments beforehand.
[...can he pocket the items in the drawer? Because he's going to if so. Yoink. But he's looking at the note that says CAMERA, flipping it over to look at the back just in case. He's going to examine the handwriting as well. Anything noteworthy? Huh. He's also going to try and turn the monitor itself around, checking the back first to make sure before pointing it in the direction of the camera. He's keeping it in sight if he can, but if it doesn't budge he'll just leave it alone.
Higekiri seems to have the locker, and Beck's pushing buttons. Nice. Teamwork. He'll approach the abandoned camera though and look at the note again before he...does the stupid thing and puts his eye up to the viewfinder to see through it. Maybe the lens has something on it? He'll also fiddle with the buttons themselves. What is happening on this camera? Is there a tape inside? He'll try to check on those, too.]
Computer's asleep, or it's not even on. Maybe Higekiri will have good luck with the locker.
[The locker is not labeled, no! It's not dusty or particularly old looking, either. But once Higekiri opens it up, he'll see that there are several things stored inside of it. Namely: Microphones, headphones, a spare tripod, flashdrives, CDs, and two trays filled with cassette tapes. One of the trays is labeled as "New", and the second is labeled as "Used." The latter only contains two cassettes.
When Beck presses the button, BASEMENT 1 lights up in green while ALL goes dark. Nothing else happens.
As for Junpei... Well! The stuff is free for him to steal. Nothing on the back of the note. But if he examines the handwriting, he will easily recognize it.
It's his own, after all.
There's nothing behind the monitor, though. And pointing it at the camera does nothing... But putting his eye through the viewfinder seems to cause something of a chain reaction. Almost simultaneously, the following things happen:
1) The lights in the recording studio flicker off, and then back on.
2) Something crackles to life above them, almost like a P.A. system, before heavy moaning fills the recording studio. Two masculine voices, and one feminine voice. They will recognize them as their own.
3) The bed starts to shake and rattle in tandem with the voices, almost like someone is fucking on top of it.
4) The computer monitor will activate on it's own, showing the very same sight Junpei is witnessing through the viewfinder. A live feed of the bed, duplicates of themselves getting down and dirty on top of it. Their backs are facing towards the camera, but they seem to be very into it!
But if they look at the bed with their own eyes, without the use of the viewfinder or computer, there's no one there.]
higekiri will honestly be in the middle of gathering all the items from the locker in his arms - stacking everything on top of the trays, but taking the "Used" cassettes and putting them aside, sliding them into his pants pocket just so that they don't get jumbled with the rest because he knows his poor fucking memory
speaking of poor fucking memory,
he turns when the lights flicker, blinking when he looks first at the bed shaking as if he's ready to fight it, and then glancing over to the monitor?? I'm sorry but he wanders over to get a closer look to see what's on the screen
[She's about to press another one of the buttons when everything escalates at the speed of light.
There's a frown at the noises being played suddenly, a greater feeling of unease as the bed begins to move for no apparent reason, and when she glances over and sees what's on the computer monitor, she freezes. She stays like that for a few moments, glancing between the monitor, the evidently empty bed, and the two of them. The only thing that shocks her out of her stunned silence is Higekiri's question.]
What? No, I would definitely remember this! What the hell...?
[A few things happen. Junpei immediately shoves the note into his pocket upon noticing it's his own fucking handwriting. He takes a quick inventory of everything Higekiri's pulling out of the locker. He's looking through the camera, a sense of dread running through his veins when he recognizes himself and his own voice.
And he doesn't answer. He stares blankly at the camera for a while, looking at the bed before looking for a stop button.
What the fuck.]
...check the cassettes. [His voice is low, almost threatening but he's also trying to see if there's a tape in the camera itself or if it's digital. Is this all the camera does? Furthermore:] And let me have the flashdrives. The little stick things.
[If Higekiri gives them to him, he's going to go back to the computer and see if he can plug them in.]
[The bed keeps shaking. The moaning keeps blaring through the room. The camera is digital, and nothing Junpei does seems to stop it from recording. On the computer screen, their doubles continue to have sex with each other, clearly having the times of their lives.
So maybe Beck, Higekiri and Junpei should lighten up? Gosh.]
[JUNPEI, PLEASE CONFIRM WHETHER OR NOT THEY'VE FUCKED. But he'll just offer Beck an apologetic smile because he didn't mean to offend her.... Good to know this is all fake!
But now Higekiri is looking over at Junpei in confusion?? But yeah he'll go to the desk to deposit the trays so he can have his hands free, and hand Junpei the sticks! JUNPEI YOUR STICKS. And then he'll ask:]
What did the note say?
[since Junpei put it in his pocket all angry and stuff, haha.
Anyway! He'll also pull the Used cassettes out of his back pocket and turn to Beck.]
