Edelgard and Tamamo didn't interact a lot but in some ways that didn't matter because they were both SO SET IN THEIR WAYS and filled with such distinct personalities that Tamamo respected her from the word go. Which is actually quite rare for her! Given her lore and how she is portrayed by history, humans in general earn Tamamo's wariness before anything else.

But Edelgard? Tamamo would not fuck around with Edelgard. She could tell this was a woman who would do whatever necessary to see her goals reached, and didn't care about being liked along the way. Which is why Tamamo decided to decrease chances of friction by staying out of the way -- and then later to go full throttle, regardless of if it came down to a fight or just them working together. Given their roles in the game it ended up becoming the latter (to her relief, honestly), but even still Tamamo was always ready for a brawl... and yet that made her like Edelgard even more.

Basically they were two apex predators pacing around in the same cage who happened to work together instead of fistfighting to the death, and that is beautiful to me.
