honestly, part of me is still? boggled??? that these two morons got along so well, but they did!!! Zero tried to be all bristly and shocking from the start, with her "bomb drop" that she was out to murder her sisters, but WWX just... rolled with it, and I feel that set the tone for the rest of their interactions. WWX just rolled with Zero's punches no matter what she said or did, and she couldn't help but respond to that and start seeking him out.
the food helped, ngl, lmfao.
another factor was their memory share and... hm. boy. Zero couldn't help but see a kindred soul in WWX after that, even if she thought he'd been entirely too naive about everything. and I think that feeling of similarity made it easier for Zero to willingly share things with WWX that she wouldn't share under normal circumstances. even if... it took a while for some of those things to actually get talked about. like Mikhail.
ultimately, WWX was just a constant, reassuring presence that never shied away from Zero and that honestly contributed a lot to her (debatable) mental stability. she hopes he won't ever try to come back for the dead - they're ticking time bombs, after all, and no world deserves something like that infecting it, especially not his. but, well, he's a sentimental dumbass - she knows that hope is futile. so he better have a plan thoroughly hammered out before he tries to break the dead out.
except her. if she find herself alive again, she'll kill him. or, you know, travel across time and space to crash his retirement and yell at him.
